“Sicilianity" is a concept that isn’t present in the Italian language, but it pervades in the heart of every single Sicilian. Difficult to explain, this concept is more than a notion, it’s a kind of feeling that makes proud the inhabitants of this beautiful island and sometimes allows them to perform extraordinary actions. It was  this feeling that inspired Basilio Pintaudi to give life to his Sicilian wine production.

Pintaudi’s Sicilian Wine: a story of passion and tradition

"Vini Pintaudi" was founded in 1970 by Basilio Pintaudi, a man who profused all his passion and love for his land in this cellar.  The activity was born in Piraino, a small terrace of Nebrodi overlooking the Aeolian Islands. Basilio, hungry to satisfy the tastes of his countrymen, focused his activity on the retail sale of bulk Sicilian wine. This tradition was later handed down by his children and grandchildren, who currently works in this Sicilian winery.

Pintaudi’s New Generation: at the head of a “DOC” Sicilian winery

Over time, the different generations of Pintaudi have had to maintain and consolidate the reputation of their Sicilian winery. Over the years, the grandchildren have had to face considerable changes, while remaining anchored to the tradition. Despite this, the commitment and professionality have remained unchanged. The current managers, in fact, have decided to extend the carnet of wines and to reformulate the sale of bulk wines, beginning the path of bottling. "Today, our products are synonymous with quality, accuracy and elegance and they reflect our origins, our culture, our "Sicilianity", says Basilio Catrini, current administrator.

From harvesting to bottling of "Sicilianity"

Pintaudi’s Sicilian Wine is produced from grapes grown in selected Sicilian territories. From these grapes, this Sicilian winery takes care to extract and keep intact the best structural and organoleptic characteristics. If in the first phase of production the winery remain strongly anchored to the most ancient tradition, inside the cellar you can find the highest innovation. Vini Pintaudi uses the most modern technologies currently available on the market to complete production and bottling. Because of this interweaving of old and new, the owners of this Sicilian winery love to call themselves "traditionally modern".Together with a deep love for their land, Basilio Pintaudi's grandchildren have a great respect for the environment and adopt procedures that minimize any harmful emissions to the territory.

Varieties of Wines: not only taste, but also art.

Vini Pintaudi offers to its customers three lines of bottled wines (Bronze, Silver and Gold) in order to embrace the tastes and economic needs of all. In addition, the administrators have created the line of bulk wine "Bag in Box" for those who do not need the bottled. This alternative allows the customer to have all their qualities of wine in bulk in the various quantities required.  Pintaudi wines also gave a touch of art to each of its bottles. For the creation of the labels, they relied on fluorescent colors and imagery inspired by walking through the small streets of Sicilian villages. This Sicilian winery has also taken shapes and colors from Sicily, making them into small works of paper art through the use of the most classic symbols of tradition.

Red Wines

The Red Wines of this winery are the symbol of strong Sicily with intense and elegant flavors. Their "A Marè", it’s a Nero d'Avola ruby red in color that intensely smells of red fruit, gives to costumers spicy notes of tobacco, cocoa and licorice. In the mouth you can find taste-smell correspondence, with soft and well integrated tannins. These characteristics give it a taste that is warm and enveloping on the palate. A Marè is an excellent accompanying wine for first and second dishes with a strong taste, red meat and venison. Among the more classic red wines  we can find Syrah IGP, a wine with a bouquet of ripe red fruit, such as cherry and plum,  black pepper and vanilla. This wine is warm and full on the palate, with fruity notes generated by its well-developed tannins. A pleasant syrah to accompany red meats, venison and mature cheeses.

Rose Wines

Another flagship wine of this winery is “Ciaulè”, which represents an excellent example of the quality that Syrah is able to achieve in Sicily. Ciaulé has a pinkish color and offers hints of red fruit, such as wild strawberries, raspberry, pomegranate and light spicy notes. In the mouth it is fresh with a good structure and pleasant persistence of fruity aromas. It matches perfectly with very refined first and second dishes.
