Brolo Castle

The Castle of Brolo, located on the top of the ancient village dating back to the 10th century, is perched on a limestone spur overlooking the sea in a dominant position over the whole gulf that from Capo d'Orlando goes to Capo Calavà. It was the residence of Princess Bianca Lancia, who became Federico II's wife in 1246. The monumental complex, which is characterized by the presence of the high Ghibelline crenellated tower dating back to the 10th century AD, is protected and circumscribed, on the sea side, by a natural precipice, on the mountain side, by a mighty wall that can be crossed by two access doors. The internal area of the castle walls houses a park with tall trees.
