Rock of Brolo

Lo Scoglio di Brolo is a massive rocky body that emerges powerful and very recognizable in its shield shape from the sea waters overlooking the town. It is a popular destination for the most daring swimmers, as well as pleasant boat excursions. Its seabed also offers beautiful scenery for fans of underwater exploration. About this aspect, some time ago, a statue of Christ the Redeemer protector of the abyss was placed on the bottom of the sea at the foot of the rock. Every year, on the occasion of the Festival of the sea, the statue is taken to be brought to the surface for a short time, as if to bless the town of Brolo, and then be placed again in its position in the depths of the sea.
