Church of Maria SS. Del Rosario - Ucria

The Church of SS. Rosario, built between 1720 and 1750 by the Dominican Friars, is located on the outskirts of the town of Ucria. The high altar, covered with oil-painted glass plates, houses a wooden chapel on which the statues of the Madonna del Rosario and San Domenico are placed. Of particular note is the ceiling made up of oil-painted wooden boards and the cusp of the bell tower covered with white and blue colored majolica. Following the 38 steps set in the perimeter walls of the Church, you can access the four balconies of the bell tower from which you can admire a breathtaking panorama. In recent times, the mosaic Two Worlds in Comparison by Nico Nicosia has been placed in the Church: a large panel in murrine and pure gold, 15 m long and 3 m high, which tells the story of the journey of the caravels of Colombo.
