Church of S. Pietro Apostolo - Ucria

The Mother Church, built in the Renaissance style in 1625, is dedicated to San Pietro Apostolo. The central portal, made of sandstone, is of considerable artistic value: on the front there is engraved a coat of arms depicting 2 large crossed keys and, on the sides, two elegant columns surmounted by Corinthian capitals and four small chapels. The portal is enriched by elegant bas-reliefs, carved by local artisans, who reproduce allegorical figures such as fish, phoenix and lily. The interior of the Church has three naves separated by eight columns with Corinthian capitals, whose arrangement allows you to admire the eleven altars present and the respective chapels from any position. The vault, 12 meters high, rests on Arabic-style arches supported by eight columns and four pillars in carved stone. The church houses the Madonna della Scala, a work by Gaggini made from a single block of marble.
