Martorana fruit

This is a typical Sicilian sweet, prepared with almonds, sugar and candied fruit. Its look and shape realistically resemble vegetables, fruits and, in some cases, also other types of food.

Once, it used to be prepared in the period of Halloween and All Saints’ Day; however, you can now find it available in any moment of the year. Martorana fruit is particularly appreciated by tourists.

Martorana fruit has been recognized as a traditional Sicilian product and it has been included in the list of traditional Italian food products (PAT – Prodotti Agroalimentari Tradizionali) by the Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies (Mipaaf).

Ingredients: sugar, almonds, glucose, candied fruit coloured with E110, E102, E124; it contains E200, and natural flavourings.
